Who is/was your favorite teacher in school?

Miss Alexander, my second grade teacher. She was the one who realized that my difficulty with some things in school was due to my being left-handed. She took the time to teach me how to function in a right-handed world. Everyone needs a teacher who sees you for the intellient person you are instead of stupid just because you saw things differently. If not for her I would never have developed my love of books. She was the one taught me how to read properly. When I first learned to read I read right to left instead of left to right. My first grade teacher just thought I was stupid. (I'm so glad they passed me into second grade.)

The boogeyman, global thermonuclear war, being forced to eat broccoli—there's a lot to be afraid of when you're a kid. What was your biggest childhood fear?

It's still my greatest fear. SNAKES! Many a poor innocent snake died because it was the only way mom could get me to stop screaming. I still scream if I come across a snake unexpectedily. But at least I no longer demand it's death. In fact if I see a picture of one in a magazine when not expecting it...well you'd better duck because that magazine is going flying.
