I saw my groundhog today. (I know they can be destructive little things, but we have a peaceful co-existence.)  As I looked through the window watching him nibbling grass, it struck me. He looked old! I researched the lifespan of a groundhog and discovered the average is nine years. He's been living under my shed for six years now...makes me a little sad to think he may not be around much longer.
